We are permitted under the FSA to advise you on your insurance needs, arranging insurance cover with insurers or other intermediaries to meet your requirements and assisting you with any ongoing changes that you may have to make. We will also assist you with any claim that you may need to make.

The FSA is the independent watchdog that regulates financial services. It requires us to give you this document. Use this information to decide if our services are right for you.

South East Kent Insurance Services has no direct or indirect holding in any insurer and no insurer has any direct or indirect holding in South East Kent Insurance Services.

We always offer fair analysis of the market service unless it is not possible to do so and we will explain this to you.

Where we offer advice or information from a limited number of insurers, or a single insurer (for example where certain specialist risks are offered by only one or limited insurers), if you ask us to do so, we can provide you with a list of the insurer/s.

We will make sure, as fare as we are able, that the products or services we offer you match your requirements:

We will offer you products and services to meet your needs and any requirements you have

If we cannot match your requirements, we will explain the differences in the product or service we can offer you and give you enough information so that you can make an informed decision about your insurance.

It is your responsibility to provide complete and accurate information to insurers when you take out an insurance policy, throughout the life of the policy and when you renew your insurance. Failure to disclose any material information to your insurers might invalidate your insurance cover and could mean that part or all of a claim may not be paid. It is important that you ensure all statements you make on proposal forms, claims forms and other documents are full and accurate. If a form is completed on your behalf, you should check that the answers shown to all questions are true and accurate before signing the document. IF YOU ARE IN ANY DOUBT ABOUT WHETHER INFORMATION IS MATERIAL, YOU SHOULD DISCLOSE IT.

As an independent intermediary we are paid a commission by your insurance company, details of which are available on request. In addition to the overall premium charged by your insurers, we may, at our discretion, make charges to cover administration costs. Any fees charged will be disclosed and agreed with you in advance of making the charge.

There is a minimum administration fee of £10.00.

We accept payment by cash, credit/debit card or cheque (when accompanied by a relevant Bank Guarantee Card). Subject to status, you may also be able to spread your payments through insurer’s installment schemes or a credit scheme which we can arrange through finance providers, on your behalf. We will give you full information about your payment options, all credit charges and when payment must be made, when we discuss your insurance in detail.

Unless specifically advised to the contrary, all monies held by South East Kent Insurance Services Limited are done so as agent of the insurer, in a Statutory Trust Account.

You have the right to cancel your insurance and full details of the time scale and costs involved will be shown on your Policy Summary/Policy Booklet. The costs shown in these documents are exclusive of our own charges, as detailed above.

It is essential that we are notified IMMEDIATELY of all incidents that may result in a claim against your insurance policy. You must notify us whether you believe you are liable or not. Any letter of claim received by you, must be passed to us immediately, without acknowledgement. Only by providing prompt notification of incidents can your insurance company take steps to protect your interests.

Your Policy Summary/Policy Booklet will give you details on whom to contact, in order to make a claim. If you require assistance, please contact us. We will then advise you as to what action is required and by whom. You will be required to provide full details of you claim. You will be advised as to how you should do this.

Occasions can arise where we, or one of our other customers, will have some form of interest in business which we are transacting for you. If this happens, or we become aware that our interest or those of one of our customers conflicts with your interests, we will inform you and obtain your consent before we carry out your instructions.

All information about you will be treated as private and confidential. We will only use and disclose the information we have about you in the normal course of arranging and administering insurance. We may pass information about you to credit reference agencies for the purpose of arranging payments by installments and may also pass to them details of your payment record with us. Under the Data Protection Act 1998, you have rights of access to any personal information we hold about you in our records. It is our intention to provide you with the highest level of customer service at all times. However, if you should feel dissatisfied with your insurance cover in any way, or with the levels of service we have provided, then we operate a comprehensive complaints procedure to assist you with your complaint. Should you wish to complain you may do so orally, to any member of staff or in writing to the above address. In line with our complaints procedure we will formally log the complaint and refer the matter to a staff member who is independent from the reason for the complaint. All complaints will be acknowledged, in writing, within 5 working days of receipt and will include the name of the staff member who will deal with the complaint. We will provide you with a full written response within 20 working days, or explain the current position of your complaint and provide you with a time scale for a full response.

If we receive a complaint that does not relate to any general insurance product or activity, or should more appropriately be referred to another organization, we will advise you in writing, within 5 working days. Wherever possible, we will provide details of how your complaint should be redirected.

If you cannot settle your complaint with us, you may be entitled to refer it to the Financial Ombudsman Service. Further details will be provided at the appropriate stage of the complaints process.

We are covered by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS). You may be entitled to compensation from the scheme if we cannot meet our obligations. This depends on the type of business and the circumstances of the claim.

Insurance advising and arranging is covered for 100% of the first £2,000 and 90% of the remainder of the claim, without any upper limit.

For compulsory classes of insurance, insurance advising and arranging is covered for 100% of the claim, without any upper limit.
